Author Guideline

Theofani: Journal of Islamic Studies and Scholarly Discourse is an academic publication dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research within the broad spectrum of Islamic scholarship. This journal provides a comprehensive platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and scholarly communities to disseminate knowledge, critical insights, and research findings that contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies and its contemporary applications.

The journal welcomes submissions in various formats including empirical research, theoretical analyses, and scholarly reviews.

1. Scope of the Journal

Submitted articles must align with the journal's scope, covering but not limited to the following topics:

- Islamic Pedagogy and Learning
- Jurisprudence and Islamic Legal Studies
- Islamic Finance and Commercial Practices
- Qur'anic Exegesis and Prophetic Tradition Studies
- Islamic Philosophical Inquiry
- Islamic Intellectual Heritage and Literary Works
- Islam and Conflict Resolution
- Islamic Contributions to Knowledge and Human Civilization
- Contextualized Islam in Regional and National Settings
- Islamic Perspectives on Gender Relations

2. Submission Requirements

  • The article must be original, unpublished in full or in part, and not a compilation or translation.

  • Articles may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

  • Submissions must be in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format and uploaded via the Open Journal Systems (OJS).

3. Manuscript Format

  • Font: Garamond, size 12 pt.

  • Spacing: 1.5 line spacing.

  • Paper Size: A4.

  • Word Count: 5000–8000 words, including abstract, tables, figures, and references.

4. Manuscript Structure

a. Title

  • Written in the language of the manuscript (Indonesian or English).

  • Should be concise, clear, and reflect the content of the article.

  • Maximum 15 words.

b. Author Information

  • Full name of the author (without academic titles).

  • Institutional affiliation (department, university, or relevant institution).

  • Corresponding email address.

c. Abstract and Keywords

  • The abstract must be written in two languages (Bahasa Indonesia and English).

  • Length: 100–150 words.

  • The abstract should summarize the background, objectives, methods, findings, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: Five (5) words, written in both Indonesian and English.

d. Introduction

  • Presents the background, research objectives, and problem formulation.

  • Should refer to relevant literature to support the research context.

e. Research Methods (for empirical research articles)

  • Describes the research approach, design, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods.

f. Analysis and Discussion

  • Analysis should be supported by scientific theories and references.

  • The discussion should establish a clear connection between research findings and theoretical frameworks.

g. Conclusion

  • Summarizes the main findings and implications of the research.

  • Should not simply restate results but provide interpretations and significance of the findings.

h. References

  • Only sources cited in the article should be listed.

  • References should follow the APA 7th Edition format.

5. Citation and Referencing Style

  • The journal follows in-text citation using APA 7th Edition, for example:

    • Single Author: (Madjid, 2010) or Madjid (2010) states that…

    • Two Authors: (Nasr & Smith, 2012)

    • Three or More Authors: (Rahman et al., 2018)

    • Direct Quote: “...” (Al-Attas, 1995, p. 25).

    • Books:

Nasr, S. H. (2007). Science and Civilization in Islam. Harvard University Press.

    • Journal Articles:

6. Review and Publication Process

  • All articles undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  • Acceptance decisions are based on reviews by at least two independent reviewers.

  • Rejected manuscripts will not be returned to the author.

7. Submission Procedure

  • Articles must be submitted via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) of Theofani.

  • Authors must ensure their manuscripts comply with these guidelines before submission.

8. Publication Ethics

This journal adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines regarding academic integrity, plagiarism, and duplicate publication.
