Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10050
Students' needs analysis is generally used for collecting and assessing information relevant to course design to establish how the course will be conducted and what is the course about by obtaining the information related to the students’ needs. It comprises the teaching materials, the teaching methodology or approaches, the task design, and the evaluation process as a continuous process in which the whole teaching and learning process is being assessed and evaluated to fit the existing course with the students’ needs that always changing to establish an effective course. This research employed descriptive qualitative research to analyze the students’ needs related to Introduction to literature course at English Education Study Program of UIN Prof.K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto. The subject of this research was the third-semester students as much as 127 students. The data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were designed to find out the students' interest related to English literature, meanwhile in-depth interview was used to confirm and get more information related to students’ needs. The result from the present needs analysis which was related to students’ prior knowledge of the course shows that the students were mistaken the term literature with the text used as reference for academic writing and that they are already familiar with reading literary text which was dominated by novels and short story in Bahasa Indonesia. Meanwhile, the target needs analysis shows that most of the students agreed that learning English literature is important. The result of learner needs analysis shows that the students want to learn some materials in English literature with specific task and project.
Endang Sartika, Maulidiya Umi Handayani, Hary Sulistyo Copyright (c) 2024 Endang Sartika, Maulidiya Umi Handayani, Hary Sulistyo http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10050 Wed, 05 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Language and Brain Relations and Language Disorders In Arabic Language Learning https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10154
ABSTRACT

Communication among humans is facilitated through language, which encompasses both spoken and written expressions organized in a structured manner. Language processing involves different parts of the brain, including areas involved in sound processing, word recognition and linguistic memory. This is important because knowledge of how the brain interacts with language can help in designing more effective teaching methods. Alongside the potential for success, students learning Arabic may also acquire language disorders. The objective of this research is to offer a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between language and the brain in the realm of Arabic language learning, as well as its disorders. The research employs a qualitative approach coupled with a literature study method. Data is gathered from diverse literature sources, including books, journals, and scientific articles that precede the current research. The chosen method for data analysis in this research is the content analysis method. The outcome of this research reveals the existence of language and brain relationships and interference in Arabic language learning through research and tests that have been conducted by previous researchers.
Yulyana Dewi Nabilah, Nevin Nismah, Shofil Fikri Copyright (c) 2024 Yulyana Dewi Nabilah, Nevin Nismah, Shofil Fikri http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10154 Wed, 05 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Implementatation of Curriculum based on CEFR in English Teaching https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10621
The research aimed to observe and describe the implementation of The Curriculum based on CEFR (Common European Framework for Languages) for English teaching conducted by English teachers in SD Al-Irsyad Al Islamiyyah 01 Purwokerto. The result of the research shows the activity of English teaching implemented utterly appropriate to the principle of The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), such as comprehensive, transparent, coherent, supportive of lifelong learning, multidimensional, action-oriented, and supportive of student autonomy. Otherwise, some challenges that faced English teachers, such as time allotment, teaching media, using authentic material for listening activities, teaching grammar and intercultural competence. Therefore, the practice of this implementation needs more improvement to achieve the objective of the curriculum.
Linda Astrianingsih, Khairunnisa Dwinalida Copyright (c) 2024 Linda Astrianingsih, Khairunnisa Dwinalida http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10621 Sun, 09 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 An Analysis of English Summative Assessment Item of Merdeka Curriculum Based on Bloom's Taxonomy at SMP N 4 Cilacap https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10609
This study aims to determine the compatibility of the summative assessment item of the Merdeka Curriculum used at SMP N 4 Cilacap. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method based on Bloom's Taxonomy operational verb tables. There are 47 questions for the midterm assessment and 50 questions for the semester assessment. So, there are 97 English summative assessment items given by the teacher and used to measure students' level of understanding. The summative assessment items studied consisted of the 2022/2023 academic year midterm and semester assessments. The results of this research are that questions in the LOTS category have a higher percentage than the HOTS category. In midterm assessment items, questions in the LOTS category reached 78%. Meanwhile, in semester assessment items, the number of items that have the LOTS category is 66%. So, based on this research, items categorized as LOTS dominate the Summative Assessment items at SMP N 4 Cilacap. So, this research shows that the summative assessment items at SMP N 4 Cilacap are incompatible with the Merdeka Curriculum. Cognitive
theory emphasizes aspects of understanding, mental processes, and organization
in language acquisition. This view states that the stages of students' cognitive
development influence their language development. In this research, the
effectiveness of the cognitive model in learning Arabic becomes a benchmark in
determining whether the teacher's role is fulfilled in applying psycholinguistic tests
to students. So that the latest alternative for learning Arabic has emerged based
on its new understanding. In this research, the researcher limited it to language
structure material or often referred to as nahwu (syntax). Because learning nahwu
holds great urgency in developing Arabic language skills. This research uses a
qualitative descriptive approach, as well as the use of metasynthesis techniques for
SLR (systematic literature review) research. With the systematic literature review
method, research will be carried out using systematic, explicit and reproducible
steps to synthesize (identify, evaluate, interpret) a number of research works and
ideas that have been produced by researchers. The results of this research, in the
cognitive aspect, researchers found that structural learning of Arabic (Nahwu) with
the TBL (Task Based Learning) and PBL (Problem Based Learning) models is a
learning model that can provide significant learning results in improving students'
cognitive abilities, because both This model provides stimulus to students. Thus making cognitive abilities develop efficiently and effectively. This makes PBL and
TBL alternative options in learning Arabic which is based on psycholinguistic
cognitive models
Ahmad Rizki Nugrahawan, Zainal Rafli, Samsi Setiadi Copyright (c) 2024 Ahmad Rizki Nugrahawan, Zainal Rafli, Samsi Setiadi http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/tarling/article/view/10430 Sun, 09 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700
