The Pegon inscriptions are of significant size and contain advice or guidance. This qualitative research is based on a symbolic interactionism approach. Data is collected through interviews, field observations, and literature review. The research reveals that the Pegon inscriptions primarily serve as sengkalan for the numerals at the end of each sentence. They are also perceived as valuable advice by the local community, who view them as the wise words of the sunan. The gate was constructed in 1896 by Tuban regent, Raden Toemenggoeng Koesoemodikdo, not Sunan Bejagung's disciples. This research enriches our understanding of the history and culture of Sunan Bejagung Lor's Tomb and sheds light on the significance of the Pegon inscriptions on the gate.
Siti Nur Aqidatul Izza Copyright (c) 2024 Siti Nur Aqidatul Izza https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/jihm/article/view/9368 Wed, 22 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Political Biography of Raden Usman Dung: The Dedication of an Ulama in Muara Bungo Tebo, Jambi https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/jihm/article/view/10457
This research aims to find out Usman Dung. Although his Persian and Arabic works have been the focus of long-standing historical debates, there are as yet few proper, in-depth textual and critical editions. This is particularly true regarding Bidlīsī’s Persian history of the first eight Ottoman sultans called Hašt Bihišt (The Eight Paradises) and especially its unpublished Book VI. This paper provides an editio princeps of Bidlīsī’s Arabic prefatory poem to Book VI and its English translation.
Mustafa Dehqan Copyright (c) 2024 Mustafa Dehqan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/jihm/article/view/9457 Wed, 22 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Sufi Tradition as Legitimization of Guardianship in The Java: The Study of Manuscripts of Babad Demak Pesisiran https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/jihm/article/view/10732
The development of Islam in Java is inseparable from the role of wali as a preacher of Islam. This debate became interesting because a collective memory was found among the people of Singkil Aceh, who believed that there was a nephew-uncle and student-teacher relationship between them. Collective memory is strengthened by two sites, which are the graves of Sheikh Ali Al Fanshuri (father of Sheikh Abdurrauf) and his younger brother, Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri, in two areas in Singkil. Through critical analysis of literature and in-depth exploration of collective memory and sites, the author concludes that the two of them had a familial relationship as nephew and uncle, and they even had a student and teacher relationship at the beginning of Sheikh Abdurrauf's education
Ramli Ramli Copyright (c) 2024 Ramli Ramli https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsaizu.ac.id/index.php/jihm/article/view/10696 Wed, 22 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700
